Online Frame Drums Lessons

Online Persian Frame Drums Lessons by Peyman Nasehpour

Whether you are looking for a way to learn how to play the frame drums, you have come to the right place.

I am going to explain how I teach online Persian frame drumming lessons on this page. While my primary method of teaching the frame drums, such as Persian dayereh, Azerbaijani ghaval, and the Sufi style daf is by ear, the frame drum notations are also used to assist the student to learn and remember the lessons more easily.

The dayereh is a medium-sized Persian frame drum played all over Iran. For more, check my note on the dayereh and the ghaval.

I teach the dayereh in two different styles, the Persian style dayereh and the Azerbaijani style dayereh. Note that the Azerbaijani frame drum dayereh is called the ghaval.

I also teach the daf in two different styles. One is the Sufi style, while the other is the daf style, which is usually performed by Persian classical musicians. For more on the daf, see the following note:

The students of my online frame drum classes should have a reliable Internet connection, a computer with video chat facilities, and of course, a suitable daf.

Music courses online (for example, through Google Meet or Skype) have proven to be an excellent alternative to classroom teaching, especially during the pandemic. Prior to the pandemic, my personal experience showed me that online lessons were effective enough to meet a student's needs. They are comfortable and economical.
